Authors instructions^[1]

The journal Ambiens Techné et Scientia México is a biannual scientific-technological journal edited by the Red para Análisis de la Calidad Ambiental en México (Network for the Analysis of Environmental Quality in Mexico) and the Red Internacional de Ciencias Ambientales (International Network of Environmental Sciences). The content of the articles is the sole responsibility of the author(s) and does not reflect the point of view of the entities that publish it. It currently is in the process of being indexed in the Latindex catalog, the Regional Online Information System for scientific journals from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, and others.

The journal Ambiens Techné et Scientia México can accept for publication the following type of contributions:

a)   Research, investigation and development. They present contributions from experimental and/or theoretical studies of basic and/or applied research or humanistic or technological development. Their objective is the dissemination of the advances in science and derived technologies as well as those related to environmental protection, in such a way that they are of interest to scholars in the fields of science, technology and humanities with reference to environmental protection(green sciences and technologies)

b)   Technical articles. They address topics of practical interest to scientists, to engineers, to researchers in the humanities and the social, educational, and health sciences, such as calculation procedures, equipment selection criteria, property prediction, simulation techniques and process optimization or optimization, instrumentation and control, etc.

c)   Professional updating and education. Contributions will include the fundamental aspects of teaching in engineering and technologies, as well as for the exact, natural and humanistic sciences and all areas of human knowledge, in a clear and accessible way. Its purpose will be to keep professionals, academics, and students updated, providing useful didactic material.

Manuscripts should be unpublished and contain original material for readers. The author(s) are solely responsible for the content of their work. If accepted for publications in the journal, the author(s) automatically assign their copyrights to the journal to facilitate publication in physical and/or electronic formats, including the Internet. Each manuscript will have a file number. Once accepted, the author (s) must send the final version electronically (as an attachment in an email using Word for Windows 97-2003 packages to avoid incompatibilities). Tables and graphic material with high resolution should be attached where applicable. The document must follow the format described below. The official language of the journal is Spanish and it must have an additional abstract in English and at least three keywords in both languages to be included in the international indexes. If the contribution is in the English language, these must also contain the title, the abstract and the keywords in Spanish. In this case, if the authors' mother tongue is not English, the text must be reviewed by a person familiar with the subject and whose mother tongue be English.

Title and author(s)

First page should contain the contribution title in Spanish, its translation into English, and the full names of the author(s) without degrees or honorific titles. If paternal and material last names are used, then they should be separated by a hyphen. It should also contain the name and address of the institution where the research was carried out. An asterisk will indicate the author to whom correspondence should be addressed, including full postal address, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail. If desired the present addresses of the author(s) can be included. The title of the contribution should reflect the main objective in a concise form. The use of complementary titles will be accepted only when strictly necessary.

Abstract

The second page will contain the abstract of the contribution (between 200 and 400 words), which clearly establishes the objectives, methodology, results, and the conclusions. It should be presented in Spanish and English. It is strongly advised that any and all translations be conducted by knowledgeable translators. It also should include between three and five key words in Spanish and English.

Text

The text will start on the third page. It should be written in a concise and coherent manner, using simple short sentences, an impersonal style, and avoiding the inclusion of detailed information from previously published accessible books, theses, and articles. The author(s) may divide the text into unnumbered sections, such as the introduction, theoretical background, procedures and/or experimental techniques, results and discussion, and the conclusions. In the introduction, the subject of the contribution will be presented, avoiding a long review of existing literature. Reference to equations, figures, and tables should be included in parentheses. Equations will include its number in parenthesis in the right side of the text. Methodology should be precise enough for the readers to be able to replicate the experimental work or the mathematical development of the contribution. Results will be either presented in tables or figures, with analysis and interpretation in the text. As a rule, tables with data already included in figures (or vice versa) should be avoided. The number of tables and figures will be kept to the minimum required for the contribution to be clearly understood. The final part of the text should present in a concise manner the general conclusions. If it were strictly necessary to include word processor symbols that might be confusing, they should be clearly identified in the margin the first time they are used. At the end of the text they should be listed for its quick finding as indicated below.

Nomenclature

Symbols used in the text and in the equations should be gathered and identified in a table of nomenclature to be placed at the end of the text, between the conclusions and the references. Latin characters should be listed first, and then Greek ones. Symbols employed will be those of common use for each discipline and the specific area of the contribution. This journal uses the DECIMAL POINT and °C and % next to the number. The abbreviations of the Latin phrases et altere, et al., and et cetera, etc., are not underlined.

Units

Units system to be employed is the International System (SI). If it is considered important, numerical values in other units or conversion factors may be added in parenthesis.

Figures and photographs. Tables

Figures should be of good quality and sharp (Color Photographs: Minimum 300 dpi/CMYK in Tiff format, Color Line Drawings: Minimum 300 dpi/bitmap, B & W Photographs: Gray Scale, minimum 450 dpi in Tiff format, B & W Line Drawings: Minimum 1000 dpi/bitmap or EPS or SVG). All words and numbers in figures should be printed, avoiding pasting scanned copies with weak definition. Photographs should be sharp and legible. Upon acceptance of the article, they should be inserted in its proper place; they will be reproduced from these originals and reduced if required. Each table should have the title as a heading: Table 7. Frequency ... (Pérez et al., 1989) or Table 9. Frequency ..., if they are data taken from other author(s) or if these are data from this contribution, respectively, and with no final point

References

References cited in the text should be in alphabetical order of the author(s) last name and the year of publication separated by a comma and in parenthesis, and separating with semicolon (;) each reference. If there are more than two authors, et al. will be added to the first author last name (Pérez, 1998; Ramírez and López, 2001; Stoker et al., 2006). In case the last name(s) is (are) part of the text, only the year of publication will appear in parenthesis (… the experiments carried out by Stoker et al. (2006) …). The list of references will be inserted after the conclusions, nomenclature, and acknowledgements, if these exist, and they will appear in alphabetical order without numbering. When there are several works by the same author they will be presented chronologically, with the newest reference appearing first. If two or more are from the same year a letter a, b, etc., should be added to the year (Stoker et al., 2006a,b).

Each reference will have the following information. For periodical journals: Last name of the author(s) followed by his/her/their initials (first, second names). For Spanish speaking people wishing to include the mother’s full last name or initial, a hyphen should be added between both last names. Year of publication. Full title of the publication. Full name of the journal. Volume followed by the number (if there is any) in parenthesis and, after a colon the starting and ending pages numbers separated by a hyphen. Example: Hegg, D.A., Hobbs, P.V. 1978. Oxidation of sulfur dioxide in aqueous systems with particular reference to the atmosphere. Atmospheric Environment. 12(1-3):241-253. doi^[2]: doi.org/10.1016/0004-6981(78)90204-4.

In the case of books, the title should be first. Afterwards, the editorial house should appear. Then, the page(s) consulted (P. 25, if it was only one or Pp. 237-242, if there were several of them). Finally, the city and country of edition, separated by a comma. Example: Stoker, M.S., Stone, R., Seager, S.L. 1981. Química ambiental; contaminación del aire y del agua. Ed. Blume. P. 320. When the reference comes in commemorative volumes, proceedings from symposia or congresses, or they are chapters of books, they will be cited as follows: Underbrink, A.C., Sparrow, A.H. 1973. If a thesis is cited, the following example is given: López-Pérez, R. 1994. Uso de un programa computarizado para determinar propiedades termodinámicas. Professional Thesis. UNAM, Facultad de Química. Ciudad de México. Mexico.

If patents are cited, the title will be given, then the number assigned to it, the city and country of registration, as follows: Martínez, C. 1970. Procedimiento para cocer sorgo por extrusión. Registration: April 7. Pat. No. 17253384. Dirección General de Invenciones y Marcas. Departamento de Patentes. Secretaría de Patrimonio y Fomento Industrial. Ciudad de México. Mexico.

If the citation comes from international networks, the author (if it exists) or the word Anonymous, the year of the consultation and the "address" as it can be consulted will be entered: Anonymous, 2007. Presentation. http://www.ambiental.unam.mx. If it comes from an electronic journal, the name of the author (s), the year, the title of the contribution, the title of the journal, followed by the words in parentheses (online) and their ISSN and doi number will be entered, if it has it, the volume and in parentheses the issue, and after a colon the initial and final pages separated by a hyphen if it has them. Finally, the electronic address.

Supplementary Material

Mathematical deductions, profuse experimental data, computer programs, and those parts of the manuscript of lesser importance will be sent as separate additional material. This material will be deposited with the IMIQ administration and a foot note in the printed contribution will indicate to those readers interested in obtaining a copy of it, the instructions to get it. This supplementary material will only contain relevant information that has not been included in the publication.

Each author will receive free of charge a copy of his/her contribution in electronic format .pdf as it is in the exemplar.

The submission has not been previously published or previously submitted to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the editor)

This journal maintains the codes of ethics and good scientific, technological, and humanistic editorial practices (for example, COPE, CSE, CSIC, etc.). In case of detecting any lack of ethics and/or good practices, the person or persons will automatically lose the right to send contributions

The material in this journal has been peer reviewed. Its content including figures, maps, etc., is the responsibility of the authors

Although the journal does not have the direct promotion of non-commercial or commercial specialized sites with access, it allows its authors to socialize their contributions on those specialized sites

The submitted manuscript is in Microsoft Word format and the final version accepted by the evaluators must be in Word for Windows 97-2003 to avoid incompatibilities

Electronic page addresses (doi or equivalent) have been added for references where possible

Text is double spaced; the pages are numbered like the lines of the text, the latter consecutively; the font size is 12 point Tahoma type; italics are used only for the name of the species instead of underlining and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed where they should go according to their citation in the text

It is essential to include, in the comments to the editor section, the names, institution and email addresses of all the authors, the author responsible for the publication committing to the consent of the other co-authors that the manuscript be evaluated. and eventually published in this journal

It is essential to include, in the comments to the editor section, the names, institution and email addresses of at least three possible reviewers for your manuscript, who should not belong to the work institution of any of the authors or have joint project links with them

As the journal is peer-reviewed in double-blind mode, you have to make sure that the names of the authors have not been included after the title of the work, nor in the properties of the file

The Editorial Board reserves the confidentiality of the evaluation formats used by the reviewers of the contributions (double blind). The revised documents will indicate the recommendations of the reviewers and the points of improvement for the possible opinions (accepted, accepted with corrections, sent for major corrections, and sent to the author for another ad hoc fraternal journal

The maximum time for the corresponding author to receive acceptance or rejection information is 3 months

The journal allows the self-archiving of articles published in institutional or thematic repositories or personal Web pages as long as there is no lucrative use of them.

This journal does not require authors to have (ID):ORCID. If the author wishes, this information can be included in his/her contribution

To guarantee its dissemination to more readers, the Editorial Board and the authors agree that this journal is licensed under the Creative-Commons License with attribution and non-commercial rights (CC-BY-SA) :

As support to the authors, readers or reviewers, below are some interesting points provided by the colleagues of the Diamante Open Access Scientific Journals Network presented by the System of Scientific Information Redalyc of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, Mexico.

1. BASIC CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION

1.1. Immediate Open Access Policy (AAI)

This journal allows you to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link the full texts of its articles, immediately after publication.

1.2. No Article Processing Charges (APC)

No monetary charges for article review, processing, evaluation or publication (APC, in English article processing charges) are made to authors and/or institutions.

1.3. Publishing institution

The publishing institution of the journal is an academic network belonging to the non-profit academic or research sector, which is why it is registered in one of the aforementioned assumptions that it must be an academic, research institution, scientific society, university or non-profit organization. for-profit belonging to the academic or research sector.

1.4. Peer Review

All published originals are submitted to an opinion process by academic peers (specialists). The type of evaluation is known as double blind.

1.5. Antiquity

It has eleven years of existence. The issues published in the last year (2022) are visible on the OJS platform and on the journal page https://atsmexico.org/atsm. For evaluation purposes, only regular published issues will be considered.

1.6. Periodicity compliance

The issues are published punctually according to the periodicity expressed by the journal (semester). The first issue goes online on June 30 and the second on December 30.

2. QUALITATIVE CRITERIA

2.1. Percentage of scientific content

100% of the collaborations in each issue are original results, the product of scientific-technological research and subjected to peer review.

2.2. Exogeneity of publications

80% of the scientific papers published in each issue are collaborations outside the RACAM publishing institution and its sister organization RedICA (with at least one author outside the institution).

Articles or research results published per year are 12. The annual average is 12 articles.

2.4. XML JATS

Articles are available in XML JATS format.

2.5. Homogeneous publication

The journal is homogeneous and publishes 6 articles per issue.

2.6. Indexing

The journal is indexed in the Latindex directory and will be sent for qualification.

2.7. Electronic platform

The journal has an independent page https://atsmexico.org/atsm.

2.8. Reading formats

It makes the following electronic formats available to users for displaying published articles: PDF, XML JATS.

2.9. Scientific content

It publishes complete fascicles with scientific and technological content, articles derived from research.

3. HIGHL Y VALUED QUANTITATIVE CRITERIA

3.1. Editorial practices

3.1.1. Exogeneity of evaluators

The evaluators do not charge and are external to the two publishing entities RACAM and RedICA.

3.1.2. Original and unpublished publication

All articles submitted for publication are original and unpublished and are not simultaneously submitted to other journals or editorial bodies.

3.1.3. Preprint publication

The journal does not accept preprints.

3.1.4. Exogeneity of the Editorial Board

75% of the members of the Editorial Board are outside the publishing entity.

3.1.5. Evaluation times

It provides information to the authors about the estimated times (30-60 days), for the evaluation processes (peer review): Reception and acceptance.

3.1.6. Online evaluation form

The evaluation form (used in the peer review process) does not appear openly to the public but is found at the end of the journal's regulations that are on the platform.

3.1.7. Reception and acceptance dates

On the first page, after the title and the author(s), the dates of receipt and acceptance of each article are indicated.

3.1.8. Bibliometric and/or scientometric indicators

The indicators on the performance of the journal are public: The rejection rate, the number of downloads, citations, or "responsible".

The issue includes on its cover the months that comprise the publication period, for the first it is January-June and for the second July-December and in its legal ribbon it is indicated that the date of publication of the first issue is June 30 and second December 30 on the main page of the journal, page 2, as well as the corresponding one in the second issue.

This journal does not have any funding source and its editors and reviewers work altruistically. This electronic publication receives altruistic support from academic staff of the Faculty of Chemistry of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, who dedicate part of their free time to this electronic publication.

The owner of the copyright is the journal itself and the authors assign the rights to publish their contribution in accordance with the following subsection 3.3.5.

3.4.9. Author Identifier (ID) ORCID

The journal does not require authors to have ID: ORCID, if they do, it is recommended that they place it after the affiliation data.

3.4.10. Indexing

The journal is indexed in the Latindex Directory and the evaluation process will begin shortly. Each article includes both the abstract and the keywords in the original language, Spanish.

Each article includes the abstract and keywords in a second language, English.

These instructions for authors are included in a second language (English) conspicuously on the journal page.

3.4.16. Code of ethics

The journal mentions its adherence to the code of ethics and good scientific editorial practices (COPE) in the authors' instructions.

3.4.17. Similarity detection (possible plagiarism)

This journal does not apply the detection of similarity and possible plagiarism, because to use the software owned by the General Directorate of Publications of the UNAM, entity to which the majority of the Editorial Committee belongs, that authority indicated from the beginning of the publication in 2013 that it was necessary for this to be part of the journals of the National Autonomous University of Mexico requiring the signature of the head of an academic unit, which would exert coercion on the academic freedom of the journal. Therefore, the ethics of the authors is appealed to and, in the event that a possible plagiarism is detected, the authors responsible for the publication will be made aware of it in order to correct it and, in case of non-compliance , the contribution would be withdrawn.

3.4.18. Digital Preservation Policy

There is no policy for the preservation of digital files in (Lockss, Clockss, Portico, etc.), because they are for-profit companies and our journal is not for profit, so there are no funds to pay for this type of service. Each of the contributions is stored in pdf format with "mirror" computing systems, independent of one another.

3.5. Leveraging Technology

3.5.1. Use of editorial manager

It uses an electronic editorial manager as a control tool for the opinion process and not only as an open publication platform: Open Journal System (OJS).

3.5.2. Interoperability protocols

3.5.3. Search Engine

The journal does have a specific search engine for the journal contents and for locating and retrieving published articles; In addition, it allows the use of logical operators to optimize the search.

3.5.4. Individual download of content

Allows the download of each of the articles individually.

3.5.5. Integrated collection

All available digital numbers are visible on a single website.

3.5.6. Digital resource identifier

The articles do not have a digital object identifier (DOI), since this foundation requires an annual payment and for this reason it is not available. Supposedly there are sponsoring companies but the editorial committee of this journal has not found any that are free.

3.5.7. Navigation and usability

The electronic page has adequate navigability, that is, it allows access to the contents of the journal in a maximum of three clicks.

3.5.8. Added value

The journal does not have its own characteristics to provide added value to the user: The REDALyC text recommends multimedia services, access to source data, accessibility services and interaction with the user, as well as promotion through specialized non-commercial sites (Open edition, Doaj, Erudit, etc.), commercial with access (Google Scholar, Mendeley, Academia.edu, Research Gate, etc.). The first and most important reason is that the journal is exactly that, an academic journal that makes visible the knowledge generated by Spanish-speaking colleagues for the benefit of society and the improvement of people's quality of life.

3.5.9. User interaction

The journal does not facilitate the use of interaction technologies, such as blogs and/or forums that allow the user greater interaction for exactly the reasons indicated in the previous point.

3.5.10. Download statistics

The journal has a section with updated download statistics, whether from its own website or using third-party services.
