Recycling of primary residues, artificial or constructed wetlands, prototype and laboratory-scale studiesAbstract
The objective of this research is to incorporate the stabilization of primary waste from two different artificial wetlands (one with vertical flow and the other with horizontal flow and that receive two different types of wastewater (one sanitary-type water and the other mixed wastewater) using as bulking material the plant material itself from the semi-annual cuttings of the hydrophytes in compost reactors with intermittent aeration. It was corroborated on a laboratory scale, through ecotoxicological studies using seeds of edible plants, maize and beans, that suitable compost materials might be obtained for use as soil improvers exemplified with a substrate made of soil (black leafy soil) and sand. The proposed solutions are simple and inexpensive.
